Every year, the staff and students deliver flyers of intent to the surrounding community asking residents to leave non-perishable food items on their the doorstep so that we may collect them and ensure that they are delivered to the local food bank.
On December 2nd, we deliver a flyer outlining our intent to return to pick up any non=perishable food items. Then we return to the neighbourhood on Dec 4th in the afternoon to collect the items. If you wish to donate to the food bank and you do not live in our surrounding community, please bring your non-perishable items to the school gym on Friday December 4th. All donations will be greeted with a cup of hot chocolate and a smile for your efforts,
In addition, in a continuation of our partnership with Big Brothers, we will be collecting gently used clothing items.
Thank you to all who came out to our Remembrance Day assembly today. In my travels around to each of the classes after their performance I spoke to my pride in their reverence for the occasion. The songs, words and message of peace and compassion were beautiful, but it was the reverence for the occasion that moved me the most. All of whom I spoke to after the assembly today felt the respect that hung in the air over the proceedings. Congratulations and thanks to Ms. Pritchard and our students for helping us reflect.
In celebration of National Public School Library Day, École Westridge Elementary School students participated in a Drop Everything And Read session. This is a great opportunity where everyone joins us in the hallways to sit quietly and get lost in a book. Thanks go out to Mme. Papapanagoitou for organizing this event and for everything she does in playing such a vital role in our school.
