I’d like to welcome back our returning families to another year of adventurous learning and to our new families, we are excited for you to join our school community.
This year École Westridge School is excited to welcome aprox. 280 students through our doors. We started our year off examining the benefits of a growth mindset as it relates to our ability to learn.
I shared the following video by Carol Dweck with the staff: https://youtu.be/Yl9TVbAal5s .
In addition, we showed the following series of 5 short video to your children: https://ideas.classdojo.com/i/growth-mindset-1
We are hoping to use common vocabulary from these ideas in order to encourage reluctant learners to grow their ability to take risks and attack new learning. It is our hope that these ideas will also be the catalyst for conversations at home.
We will continue with our reading initiatives that were established as a result of our school reading goal over the last five years. This year, we begin the journey of assessing our students in the area of writing, with the intention of establishing a school goal that will guide our efforts in improving the writing abilities of our students. In particular, we are looking to break through the barriers that confront reluctant writers.
As always, my door is open. Please come and visit with your questions, concerns and celebrations.
